Local Markets

There are very few towns or villages in Normandy without their own market (Normandy bills itself as the gastronomic capital of Europe) so here is a selection of the local market days.  They usually start early in the morning and finish at lunchtime.

Monday - Tinchebray

Tuesday - Villedieu,  Bagnoles-de-l'Orne

Wednesday - Saint-Hilaire-du-HarcouĂȘt, Flers

Thursday - Ger

Friday - Vire, Domfront

Saturday - Mortain, Flers, Granville

Sunday - Barenton

Honfleur is noteable for it's great markets (Wednesday through Sunday) where one can purchase organic foods (Wednesday morning), local produce and fresh caught fish directly from the jetty.

Vide-Greniers

In the Visitors Book, which you will be handed on your arrival, there is an Orange book (Calendrier des Bracantes et Vide-Greniers) that lists all the car boot sales, flea markets, fairs etc in the area that are planned for this year.  They usually start around 8am in the morning and can often last all day.

Depot Ventes / Brocantes

There are many brocantes and depot ventes in the area and trawling them can be a great thing to do on a Sunday afternoon especially as most other shops are closed.  We have listed he local ones in the Visitors Book.
